Dropshipping Explained

Here is a very brief and simple explanation of what dropshipping is and how it works.

Dropshipping is a method for getting a product your customer ordered from a 3rd party source directly into their hands. With this fulfillment method, the seller doesn't take possession or handle the product directly.

The primary difference between a regular retail delivery method and dropshipping is seller isn't required to stock or own the product. With this alternative method of product delivery, sellers only purchases inventory as needed from manufacturers and suppliers.

Dropshipping in 4 simple steps:

1. Customer places an order with your online store.

2. Your dropshipping supplier automatically gets the order from your store.

3. Dropshipping supplier prepares and processes your customer's order.

4. The dropshipping supplier ships the order directly to your customers.
